Treatment with PROMETA may be appropriate at various stages of recovery, and can complement existing treatment paradigms. You may want to consider the PROMETA Treatment Program for your alcohol, cocaine, or methamphetamine dependent patients if they:
- Seek a targeted, physician-based approach for management of their disease
- Have failed or feel disappointed in other treatment options
- Are unable to commit to lengthy traditional treatment programs
What is PROMETA?
PROMETA is an integrated, physician-based treatment that is designed to target alcohol, cocaine, or methamphetamine dependence on a physiological level. While the effectiveness of the PROMETA Treatment Program has not yet been proven, clinical studies are underway.
There are two PROMETA treatments:
- PROMETA for Alcohol Dependence
- PROMETA for Stimulant Dependence (or combination Alcohol/Stimulant dependence)
Why PROMETA?
By first addressing the physiologic components of the disease, substance dependent patients may have a better opportunity to address the behavioral and environmental components, enabling them to progress through the various stages of recovery.
PROMETA Is Not for Everyone
Treatment with PROMETA is not appropriate for everyone. The PROMETA-treating physician must make the treatment decision for each individual patient regarding the appropriateness of using the PROMETA Treatment Program during the various stages of recovery.
PROMETA is not designed for use with those diagnosed with dependence to opiates, benzodiazepines, or addictive substances other than alcohol or stimulants.
PROMETA may not be appropriate for use in all patients, and should not be used in women who are or who plan to be pregnant or nursing during the course of treatment.
PROMETA is not designed for use in patients under the age of 18. Other prescribing restrictions may apply.
Hythiam does not provide medical advice or medical treatment, and makes no claims about the effectiveness and suitability of PROMETA in general or for any individual patient.
