Your brain. Medications in the Prometa Treatment Program target the chemical receptors in the brain and nerves impacted by cocaine.
Your body. Nutritional supplements help replace the important vitamins that are often diminished in cocaine-dependent persons.
Your life. The Prometa Treatment Program provides for funding for initial counseling of the patient's choice. Participation in ongoing counseling is encouraged, and considered an essential component of the recovery process.
What To Expect
Prometa treatment is discreet, and does not require long periods away from home or work. Treatment takes place at a hospital facility or physician practice that has been trained and licensed to use Prometa.
The treatment begins with a 3-day course of prescription medications and nutritional supplements. Some patients may require a third day of treatment, and it will be up to the treating physician to make this decision during the course of treatment. This is followed by a brief course of at-home medications and nutritional supplements that are taken for approximately 1 month.
Prometa Treatment Program for Methamphetamine Dependence
The Prometa Treatment Program consists of 4 steps: Step 1 A comprehensive medical exam, including urine and blood tests. Step 2 Administration of both oral (by mouth) and intravenous (through a vein) medications and nutritional supplements over 3 visits on consecutive days. Step 3 A second physician-supervised treatment of 2 visits on consecutive days, about 3 weeks after the initial treatment. Step 4 One month of prescription medications and nutritional support, along with individualized individual/group therapy.
